LBA has flown hundreds of unlawful night flights this summer

The aim of local planning conditions has always been to put a cap on the number of flights allowed at night. But LBA keeps on flying more than allowed.

The summer season cap is set at 2,920 but this summer there were 3,343 night flights – 423 more than permitted. LBA has repeatedly broken the night flight rules.

At the Public Inquiry earlier this year, the Planning Inspector ruled that the local planning conditions actually mean that none of the airport’s newer planes can lawfully fly at night.

There have been around 500 night flights by those planes this summer.

Whichever way you look at it, LBA has flown hundreds of unlawful night flights this summer.

If you live in Leeds, please ask your local councillors when they’re going to get serious about enforcing the rules over which Leeds City Council has responsibility.
