Last week, the High Court rejected GALBA's legal challenge against the government's reckless and irresponsible Jet Zero Strategy. But we're not taking no for an answer - we've appealed against that decision.
Today, GALBA instructed our legal team to make an application to the Appeal Court for permission to appeal against what we believe is a legally flawed decision by the High Court.
We maintain that the Secretary of State failed to carry out a lawful consultation when publishing the Jet Zero Strategy in 2022. Firstly, the failure to include in the strategy any mention of measures to directly control demand for flying was unfair and unlawful.
We also say that because the Secretary of State (Grant Shapps) had closed his mind to any possibility of limiting demand, he did not conscientiously consider the hundreds of consultation responses that urged him to introduce direct demand limitation measures, such as stopping airport expansions.
